While the news was "watching me" this morning, as I prepared myself for work, an announcement halted my tracks!
Due to potential terrorists activities, commuters were warned by government officials to be alert to any "suspicious activities" while riding the CTA. And more importantly, to report them!
Now, this got me to thinking about their ridiculous request.
It became quite obvious that they'd never commuted via public transportation in the big city, particularly the RED LINE. If they had, they'd realize the err of their ways!
Truth is, nothing comes across as particularly "suspicious" to regular commuters.
"Anything goes". And anything has!
Like the time a guy openly had cocktails right in his seat, in open view of other riders. Most of us could empathize, given the bosses we've worked for! So nobody said a word, as he guzzled down his 40 ounces uninterrupted!
Or, the time passengers were "doomed to hell" by this little old lady who identified herself as "The Bride of Christ!" She ranted and raved and did some hand gestures that were either voodoo in nature, or had street gang ties! We all watched in silence.
Or, the many people that are visibly on edge, and will cut you if you as much as step on their little toe when the bus or El comes to an abrupt stop.
Truth is, if the safety of our fine country is contingent upon commuters giving a "heads up" on "suspicious activities" while on public transportation, y'all we in trouble!
T.G.I.F.! Thank God it's Friday! Thank God it's Fall!
I love Fall. It's one of my favorite times of the year. I totally dig the slower pace, the fashions of the season (can finally wear my luscious leather pants), and the need for cuddling up kind of weather.
But this Fall, this month, is moving much too quickly already! Can you believe we're almost nearing the holiday season?
Anyhow, today I woke up at an ungodly hour...my mind on a million and one things. It seems that my life is often feast or famine. Either I'm swamped with things to do, or not quite enough. Lately, I've had to turn family members down for things they've wanted to do with me, but my schedule didn't allow. What a bummer.
Already, I have 2 major workshops to teach, a writer's meeting, a few creative projects, and projects around the house. Which is why I'm often amazed when people speak of "living in the moment." How the hell do you do that, when life tends to take on a "life" of its own? When projects are pressing, and when forethought is required just to
stay ahead of the game.
Now that's some food for thought.
I finished a great poem yesterday, (about the Million Man March), discovered an awesome new pizza place, and also caught up on a few things that were behind due to computer mishaps.
Looking forward to unwinding so I won't unravel...sometime soon!

There are times when I wouldn't trade my life for anything! I love writing, performing and teaching. I am blessed with awesome friends and family.
Own a home that brings me comfort and joy. And most times, I dance to my own tune!
But today started out crappy. Not one of my typical "I'm lovin' my life" kind of days.
First, I hit the floor running, at about 5 a.m.-- all geeked to work on some projects I'm excited about.
I'm contributing to an anthology for "Katrina Relief Project" and preparing for a few workshops I'm scheduled to teach.
Anyhow, go to my computer and it won't turn on. Check my phone, no dial tone. Technical difficulties put me behind, and I ain't too happy!
But, determined not to let it damper my mood, I turn on my jazz while preparing for work...and I remember that there ain't nothin' that a little Jazz and a soothing bubble bath won't cure!

I was watching SEX AND THE CITY last night, when Samantha was crying because she had finally found the man of her dreams, did all the right things, reprogrammed her skeptical thinking, and decided to share an intimate night with this fella', and possibly move things to the marriage level. Much to her horror and amazement, when they got to that point, (to put it in a ladylike way), she was disappointed in what she described as a deficiency in his apparatus.
Which begs the question...
DOES SIZE MATTER?
In "sizing up" a potential mate, what's of importance to you? The size of their bank account? The size of their bodily dimensions? Or, the size of the heart?
FOR SOME, Size DOES MATTER.... BUT ONLY AS IS RELATES TO THE SIZE OF THE HEART!!!

I swear, I thought I would need to go back to college just to figure this blogging thing out! Aside from being technically handicapped, I've encountered every problem in the book! Password "authentication" failures, posting problems, issues with my "cookies?" Which has been nerve wrecking to say the least. But I am determined, at least for the here and now.
Anyhow....
